Irish Flag Presentation
On Monday 9th November we welcomed members from the Army in Athlone who presented us with the Irish Flag and the 1916 Proclamation. This was to commemorate the 1916 Rising. We were extremely lucky to have two members of Air Corps join us also who are parents of children in the school. These were Flight Sgt. John O’Brien and Sgt. Val Murray. The Proclamation was read out by Flight Sgt. John O’Brien and Jake from 5th class. Eoghan, a pupil from the Junior end of Scoil Bhríde, accepted the Irish Flag and Aoife, a pupil in the Senior end of the school, accepted the Proclamation on behalf of our school community
Daffodil Planting
On Friday 6th November, children braved the cold weather to help plant daffodil bulbs in the school yard. Daffodils bring a nice burst of colour to our school environment and we are looking forward to watching them bloom in Spring.
